This week, honesty was set against frugality when Mighty Bargain Hunter asks what do you do when someone prices something too low? I don’t think this has ever, ever happened to me, quite frankly. But what would I do? I like to think I’d tell them. But maybe that’s why I need to write a personal finance blog, to keep myself thinking in more mercenary terms.
From the metaphors-you-really-don’t-think-will-work-but-then-they-surprise-you-by-working file, The Weakonomist shows us how the friends with benefits paradox might be the culprit behind our personal financial woes.

There’s good news afoot for people starting college this week, not to mention their parents: The New York Times reports that textbook renting is becoming more popular. Finally!
A study suggests that spendthrifts and tightwads tend to marry each other, which is a conclusion that I think Jean-Paul Sartre would like for some reason. It also explains our current economic circumstances a little bit.
Frugal websites just wouldn’t be the same without all the crazy lifestyle hacks. There, I Fixed It is a website devoted to chronicling some of the epically crazy things that people do to fix things. Check it out for a laugh.

Also from Consumerism Commentary this week is a guide to using the benefits of your alumni association. Makes me think it might be time to join one of mine. Or let my old schools know that I’m still alive, at the very least.
From Fiscal Fizzle comes this list of 55 ways to simplify your finances. I don’t think that Mr. Right-Click is going to go for #26 (Go vegetarian to cut out meat costs from your budget), but I think we might be able to swing a few of the others.
You know what the world needs more of? Social media consultants! AWESOME. Anyway, if you need help with your blog, you know, hire me if you feel like it.
